How to create AI rules in natural language?
InvoiceSorter's AI Rules feature lets you create powerful automation rules using plain, natural language. No coding or complex configuration required — simply describe what you want in your own words.
How it works
Our natural language processor understands your instructions and converts them into automated rules. You can describe conditions, actions, and exceptions just like you would explain the task to an assistant.
Examples of natural language rules
- "Tag all invoices from Amazon as Office Supplies"
- "Mark invoices over €500 as high priority"
- "Automatically categorize invoices from Adobe, Microsoft, and Google as Software Subscriptions"
- "Move all invoices from telecom providers to the Telecommunications folder"
- "Flag invoices that are overdue by more than 30 days"
- "Ignore receipts from coffee shops and fast food restaurants"
Creating a rule
- Go to Dashboard → AI Rules.
- Click "Create New Rule".
- Type your rule in the text field using natural language.
- The AI will show you a preview of how the rule will work.
- Review the preview, make adjustments if needed, then click "Save Rule".
- The rule will immediately apply to all new invoices, and optionally to existing ones.
💡 Tip
Be specific in your rules for best results. Instead of "tag invoices from tech companies", try "tag invoices from Microsoft, Apple, Google, Amazon AWS as Technology".
Managing rules
You can enable/disable, edit, or delete rules at any time from the AI Rules page.
⚠️ Warning
Rules apply to all future invoices by default. If you choose to apply a rule retroactively, it will modify all existing matching invoices. This action cannot be undone.
